Games publisher Konami has today distributed a survey that gauges consumer interest in some of its older titles, prompting speculation of the possible revival of selected classic IPs for mobile devices.
In the questionnaire, mobile participants were asked about their overall awareness of and opinion on a number of legacy Konami-owned franchises, including Bomberman, Track & Field, Castlevania, Gradius, Rocket Knight and others.
More interestingly, users were also questioned on how interested they would be in playing a newly relaunched version of each of the games, and whether they’d be likely to play them on mobile, tablet or desktop platforms (or console only).
With the company’s new CEO Hideki Hayakawa declaring back in May that ‘mobile is where the future of gaming lies‘, it’s certainly possible that the Japanese publisher is looking into ways in which it can bring some of their most beloved franchises over to mobile platforms. We have reached out to Konami for comment.
