As EA Sports’ annualised football sim FIFA 16 launches today across the UK, fans hoping to wake up to find their PC copy of the game delivered to their door are set to be disappointed.
Late on Wednesday, EA reached out to retailers to inform them that it would not be releasing the physical PC version of the game in the UK after all, leaving many pre-orders of the game unfulfilled.
To their credit, online retailing giant Amazon has emailed affected customers, offering them the chance to upgrade their pre-order to the digital deluxe version of the game at no extra cost, which comes complete with 40 FIFA Ultimate Team gold packs, Lionel Messi on loan for five games, and the “KO” and “Bailando Robot” celebrations. It’s currently unknown as to whether this directive came from EA Sports themselves, or if it’s simply a gesture of goodwill from the retailer.
Our full review of the game, which sees the introduction of women’s teams for the first time in FIFA series history, is set to be posted in the coming days.
