Zelda Localizations Detailed in New Book

A new book written by Clyde “Tomato” Mandelin, called Legends of Localization Book 1: The Legend of Zelda, examines the process of bringing a video game over west from Japan. This volume, as the title implies, focuses on the Zelda series and the differences between the original and localized versions, with an emphasis on the original Legend of Zelda.

The book is available now from Fangamer for $30. Fans also have the option of purchasing a Deluxe bundle for $35 that includes a passport-sized booklet that effectively translates every word from The Legend of Zelda. With the booklet, it would be possible to read the Japanese text of the original game, and maybe even learn some Japanese along the way.

With Christmas arriving in less than a month, the book makes an excellent gift for any Zelda fan this season.
