Gamestop Purchase Survey Reveals Consumers’ Desires

Gamestop recently conducted a survey to find out which systems and accessories gamers intend to buy this year. The list includes items like VR headsets (actually, it’s almost all VR headsets) and the Nintendo NX. The presence of Nintendo’s new console in the survey may indicate a planned 2016 release date, likely around the holidays. However, the more likely explanation is that the NX was included in order to garner feedback on how popular the system will be whenever it does release.

Price and console popularity are without a doubt the key deciders in purchasing a VR device. But most gamers can't wait for the NX.

Until the system’s official reveal by Nintendo, there will probably be no real information, and it’s especially unlikely that the company would disclose to, much less allow, retailers like Gamestop to leak such major details. That being said, Nintendo’s desperate secrecy is proving to be an effective marketing campaign in and of itself, as everybody seems to be on the edge of their seats waiting to hear about it.
