Scorpio Confirmed, Featuring High End Specs and VR Support

The much rumored and divisive Project Scorpio was confirmed by Microsoft today. Feature 6 teraflops of GPU power, 8 CPU cores, and 320+ GB per-second of memory bandwidth, Project Scorpio’s performance will outpace any and all consoles on the market, including the current specs of Sony’s upcoming iteration of the PS4.

In an obvious gesture to the vocal community, Microsoft emphasized the message of “leaving no gamer behind”, by following suit to the Playstation 4K policy and ensuring that all titles supported on Scorpio will be supported on Xbox One and Xbox One S as well. Microsoft also spoke briefly, but explicitly, about VR support, along with a seemingly unofficial announcement of Fallout 4 on VR, which was revealed yesterday at Bethesda’s press conference.

Project Scorpio will launch in Holiday of next year. Let’s hope to see some form of loyalty program before then.
