Miyamoto: The Last Guardian and Final Fantasy XV ‘Really Impressive’

The Legend of Zelda co-creator Shigeru Miyamoto has expressed his admiration for the graphical prowess of recently released fantasy titles The Last Guardian and Final Fantasy XV.

In a wide-ranging interview with Glixel, the influential Nintendo developer was asked whether or not he had played either hotly anticipated game, published by Square Enix and Sony Interactive Entertainment, respectively. Miyamoto replied: “I haven’t played those yet, but they do look really impressive graphically.”

As you might expect, the developer hastened to bring readers’ attention back to Nintendo’s IP, adding: “I do hope that people who are looking for a fantasy game in that realm will also keep in mind [The Legend of Zelda] Breath of the Wild.”

In the sit-down chat, Miyamoto expressed his admiration for Mojang’s Minecraft, claiming that Nintendo had experimented with similar ideas back in the N64 era. He stated: “I do like Minecraft, but really more from the perspective of the fact that I really feel like that’s something we should have made.

“We had actually done a lot of experiments that were similar to that back in the N64 days and we had some designs that were very similar. It’s really impressive to me to see how they’ve been able to take that idea and turn it into a product.”
