Super Mario Run Smashes Pokémon Go’s Record to Achieve 25 Million Downloads in Four Days

Super Mario Run has smashed Pokémon Go’s record of being the mobile game to rack up 25 million downloads the fastest.

Nintendo’s newest mobile title achieved the feat in only four days, according to analytics firm SensorTower – racking up the downloads a full week quicker than Nintendo and Niantic’s Pokémon Go.

Not only is Super Mario Run a hot commodity as a free download, but a significant number of players are also choosing to purchase the full game unlock for $9.99. According to the company, the title has accumulated a gross revenue of $21 million dollars during its first four days of being on sale – suggesting over two million users have already stumped up for the full version.

The record is particularly impressive considering Super Mario Run is currently only available on iOS; Pokémon Go was available at launch on both iOS and Android devices – although the latter didn’t initially release in as many countries as the former.

Based on its strong start, and assuming it can maintain the momentum, there seems a distinct possibility the title could come close to achieving the 500 million downloads forecast by investment banking firm Jefferies by Q3 2017.
