How Does the New Anthem Update Make Things Better?

A new Anthem Update is out now and you will need to download it in order to play the game. It does make things much better as compared to the game at launch and a major part of the update is not having to go back to Fort Tarsis in order to start missions and change gear.

The new update allows you to select contracts from the expedition screen rather than having to go back to Fort Tarsis each and every time. This was a rather time-consuming process and you needed to go through a couple of loading screens.

You can also launch new missions from the expeditions screen as well. Furthermore, you can change your gear without having to go to Fort Tarsis. This is something that was shown in the E3 2017 demo but was not part of the game until now.

Anthem Update

You can access the forge during Missions, Strongholds and Freeplay and the new Sunken Cell stronghold is now available to players as well. You will need to complete the main story in order to access it. There are a couple of fixes and some features have been balanced as well. Friendly player projectiles now pass through Javelins, as they should. Some of the changes to the status effects and combos are as follows:

  • Delay between when players and creatures are frozen and when the visual effect is applied has been reduced to improve readability of the status effect.
  • If a player applies a status effect that already exists on a target, but the new status effect has a higher damage than the existing one, the damage will now scale to that higher value.
  • Players who prime targets for combos will now also see the “Combo” text when detonated by another player.
  • Increased the damage of the Electric status effect when applied to creatures.

You can read all about the changes in the official patch notes. EA is not shutting down Bioware even though Anthem has been a major mess. I have talked about how Anthem needs more enemies and that they should not feel like bullet sponges. You can also check out the comparison between the E3 demo and the launch gameplay of Anthem.
