Capcom Interested in Making DmC: Devil May Cry 2

Devil May Cry 5 was released recently and it was praised by the fans and the critics. The game was very well received but it seems that Capcom is not done with the franchise just yet. DmC was the reboot from Ninja Theory and while the game did fairly well there are controversies for the new style and character design. It turns out that Capcom is actually interested in making DmC: Devil May Cry 2.

A lot has changed since DmC was released. Ninja Theory released the critically acclaimed Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice and was later acquired by Microsoft. Keeping that in mind it will be interesting to see how Capcom could make that possible. Maybe Ninja Theory will not be the developer working on the game but a collaboration between Capcom and Microsoft would be pretty epic and Microsoft does need some exclusive games for its platform.

Capcom producer Matt Walker has an interest in DmC: Devil May Cry 2 and the following is what he had to say in this regard:

On the dev side we certainly wanted to and thought we would work with Ninja Theory again to create a sequel to DmC, but that unfortunately didn’t get off the ground. We’d still love to see a sequel, but we think it absolutely has to be made by Ninja Theory – so much of the amazing style and substance in that game was only possible because they have such a knack for what’s cool. It wouldn’t be DmC without Ninja Theory.

I agree with Mat. If DmC: Devil May Cry 2 is going to be made then Ninja Theory needs to be the developer that makes it possible. It is not something that I would trust another developer with. Devil May Cry games are not common and when one comes out, you expect it to blow your mind. I would expect nothing less and I want things to stay that way.

Let us know what you think about Capcom taking an interest in DmC: Devil May Cry 2 and whether or not you are interested in playing the game if it is ever made.
