Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 Delay Pushes It Deeper Into 2020

Today a Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 delay was announced by developer Hardsuit Labs. The developer made the announcement via a blog post, which they also shared on Twitter, where it gained traction with fans of the upcoming sequel.

Originally Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 was set for a Q1 2020 launch. However, as of today, Hardsuit Labs has said that they won’t be able to deliver the game by then. The reason for this, Hardsuit Labs says, is down to the level of quality of the game that they want to provide. In the post, Hardsuit Labs expresses how sorry they are that they won’t be making this initial Q1 2020 release window, but they want to deliver the sequel fans deserve to Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 1. However, the release date will still be in 2020, meaning the game could release at any point during the year.

Hardsuit Labs explained that they want to be able to deliver a number of things in Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, including a deep storyline with a number of branching options for players to explore, amazingly acted characters who are fascinating on many levels, and a rich universe in the World of Darkness. A number of these aspects suffered in the first game due to it being released too soon, and Hardsuit Labs recently realised that they were at risk of the same thing happening if they stuck to this Q1 2020 release date for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2.

Over the course of 2019, Hardsuit Labs says that they’ve been expanding their teams and improving their processes, but it became clear pretty quickly that even this wouldn’t help them meet their release date target. The developer thanked fans for their feedback from the first game, which helped them make this decision, though it wasn’t easy.

Hardsuit Labs and Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will be at PDXCON in Berlin later this year. More information about the game’s presence at the event will be revealed during a livestream this weekend, on the 19th of October. Hopefully more gameplay of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 in its current state will be shown, giving fans something to go on while they wait for the as of yet undefined release date.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will put players back in the role of a vampire in the World of Darkness. This unique universe focuses on something referred to as The Masquerade, which is a law among the vampire clans that cannot be broken, helping them remain an unknown presence in the world around them. The lore of the games is about as deep as that of The Witcher 3: wild Hunt, with established clans and laws that must be adhered to, and players will be discovering all of this for themselves as they play.
