BioWare Has Teased Something For Dragon Age 4 Next Month

BioWare is better known for their MMO title Anthem right now more than anything, but it’s clear that they’re thinking about something other than that right now. Over on the official BioWare Twitter account, a tease for Dragon Age 4 has been hinted at for the 4th of December 2019. The exact wording in the Tweet reads, “Today marks 10 years of Dragon Age! This year we’re excited to join the community’s party on December 4th and celebrate a decade together in the world we all love. See you on 12/4 for Dragon 4ge Day!”

As you can see, BioWare is keen to mark the 10th anniversary of the Dragon age franchise with something juicy for Dragon Age 4. It’s worth noting that the actual anniversary for the Dragon Age franchise is the 3rd of November, but a month and a day out doesn’t make that much difference. The reason for the delay in anniversary celebrations is most likely to avoid Thanksgiving, and also work on something truly spectacular to reveal to the fan base.

Unofficial Dragon Age Day

There is another reason that BioWare is waiting until the 4th of December to make this Dragon Age 4 reveal. This date is actually Unofficial Dragon Age Day, a community celebration of everything Dragon Age, and this year the community is celebrating Dragon Age Origins. However, the day is more about celebrating the Dragon Age franchise as a whole, which is why it seems so appropriate for BioWare to make their announcement then. As part of Unofficial Dragon Age Day, the community get together to share everything from short stories and art, to live streams and playthroughs online. The community raises money for charity, specifically Child’s Play, and actually raised $7,000 in 2018.

I don’t think there’s a better day for Dragon Age 4 to see a big reveal than the official community day. BioWare franchises have notoriously dedicated fan bases, such as the Mass Effect community, and the fact that they’re leaning into them here shows that the developer is truly invested in their players.

What form this reveal will take is still up in the air. It could be an actual cinematic with some story thrown in, or it could even be some gameplay of the much-anticipated title. BioWare has come under a lot of fire in the press because of the state in which Anthem launched. Many believe that the developer is trying to abandon the game, but things don’t quite look that way to us. Regardless, BioWare needs some good press, and a Dragon Age 4 reveal would be a great way to remind everyone what hardcore BioWare RPGs look and feel like.
