Cyber Knights: Flashpoint Is A Fully Funded Cyberpunk Tactical RPG

Cyber Knights: Flashpoint is already fully funded on Kickstarter (check out the campaign here), but there are still a few hours to get in on it right now and grab some exclusive rewards. If you love backing games, this is one that you won’t regret pledging to, particularly if you’re looking forward to Cyberpunk 2077.

Story

story

The game is set in 2231, and players command a company of shadow mercenaries working for whoever fancies paying them the most. The story is complex, and will see players explore the tales around them rather than an overall story. The world of Cyber Knights: Flashpoint has been crafted out of some traditional cyberpunk tropes, but the developers have also weaved in their own lore and futuristic vision to make it feel unique. I’m really excited about the world we get to explore, mostly because it’s going to be so well established when we enter it.

Players experience stories from individual characters, as well as through events that will lead them into making some very impactful decisions. The game is all about letting you explore the world around you, and that world has its own stories to explore and tell.

Gameplay

gameplay

As you might be able to tell, this is a tactical RPG with gameplay that’s pretty similar to the Xcom series. That’s in no way a bad thing. The Xcom games have some of the best strategic gameplay in games, and it’s all been absorbed and built upon for Cyber Knights: Flashpoint. The key difference with this game is obviously the cyberpunk take on everything. Characters will evolve over time, and you get to choose how that happens. Certain modifications will help a character out, but they’ll change with each one you pick up. This could even play into their stories, making for a messy time if you jack up someone from a family that’s staunchly against any sort of augmentation.

How’s It Looking?

Considering that the game is fully funded, things look great. The rewards are all digital, but there’s a good selection for anyone who wants to make their mark on the game with a mission or backstory. This is very much a game for Xcom fans, but that cyberpunk twist is what is going to let it make its mark on the industry. This is a game to watch out for, even if you can’t back it now. I can pretty much guarantee that this will be a big hit when it finally launches.
