Game Remasters That NEED To Happen

Over the last few years, there’s been a significant increase in the number of classic or older video games getting remastered or remade for current-gen consoles. Some incredibly popular titles have been remade like Resident Evil 2 and 3, All Humans Must Die, and the inevitable Skyrim.

However, some gems have been missed out, and more than deserve an overhaul this year. Check out our top titles on this list.

The Simpsons: Hit & Run

The GTA-inspired Simpsons Hit & Run is a classic title that launched on the GameCube, PC, PS2, and Xbox back in 2003. The game featured several open-world sections of Springfield and allowed you to play the Simpson family and Apu Nahasapeemapetilon as they drive, smash, race, and destroy their way through the story which features zombies, aliens, a Truckasaurus rex, and so many callbacks to classic Simpsons episodes. It’d be great to see this return with updated visuals, a more in-depth world, and potentially some new outfits and cars for all characters.

A few years ago, WMS Gaming, a leading casino games developer, released a Simpsons-themed online slot. However, despite the strong brand that was made available to WMS through licensing, the game never turned out to be a success. It’s still available at plenty of Internet casinos but was quickly overtaken in terms of popularity by newer and better games.

Crash Twinsanity

Crash Twinsanity is a popular Crash Bandicoot video game that completely changed the franchise. It allowed players to control Crash’s enemy Doctor Neo Cortex and his niece Nina while featuring a more open-world to explore and solve puzzles in. As most fans know, a lot of content was cut from the game as developers Traveller’s Tales were pushed to release the game early. We think it’d be great to see this come back with new visuals and all missing content returned to the game. With the success of recent remakes Crash N. Sane Trilogy and Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fuelled, it’d be a hit!

Final Fantasy VII Part 2

In 2015, Square Enix announced that it was working on a remaster of its 1997 video game Final Fantasy VII. The game was released in early 2020, but the remake only focused on the first half of the story up to the part when Cloud and gang leave Midgar. The second half of the remake has been confirmed, but we believe it’s going to be a few years before that’s released too. We just can’t wait anymore!

Silent Hill

There have been plenty of rumours that Silent Hill will be rebooted for the PS5 console, but we don’t know how far that is. For the time being, however, we’d love to see the original Silent Hill be remade similarly to how Resident Evil 2 and 3 were remade. We’d love to play the game with updated graphics, refreshed gameplay mechanics, and changes to the level and world design just to make the title a little more exciting to play. As noted by the sales of the remastered Resident Evil games, there’s a big audience for horror games, and a Silent Hill remake will be massive!

Those are just some of the titles we hope will be remastered onto current and next-gen consoles. It’s unlikely that these titles will ever be remade, but we can dream, right?
