Last week, Ubisoft gave us a little glimpse at what will be coming to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla with Season 2 Ostara. Chief among the details was a new festival. After a little research, I’ve discovered that Ostara is the name of the festival that pagans used to celebrate in March. It’s a celebration of spring and new life in general. It’s also the time of year when the Spring Equinox is happening. This is a time of year that’s special to druids, making the veil between worlds extremely thin. Whether Valhalla is going to move in that direction remains to be seen though.
So I think it’ll be pretty likely that we’ll have an Ostara Festival in Ravensthorpe next month, but as for what kinds of activities there will be, I’m a little stumped. For the Yule Festival, we had a themed drinking game, archery contest, brawl event, and some seasonal quests. I think the seasonal quests will return, adding a little more depth to the festival but the bulk of the content is going to be in the activities.
I can see the drinking game returning, though hopefully, it’s a bit more interesting this time around. I don’t see everyone brawling again for Ostara. That seems to brutal for a new life festival. Maybe there will be some sort of activity based around gathering herbs and mushrooms. This would make sense with food starting to grow again.
Finally, I think that the archery game will be replaced by hair hunting. Hairs are a big part of Ostara, so I think the game would bring them to the forefront. I also think this will play into the cosmetics and armour you can buy as part of the event.
More than anything, I’m looking forward to being able to buy some limited-time items again. These are always a highlight for me in any game. I managed to get everything for the Yule Festival, and you can bet that I’ll be doing the same for Ostara too. I just hope that there’s a little more on offer in terms of weapons and armour to pick up this time around.
