Will We Get A Surprise From Sony Today?

Today, sony is holding a State of Play event. It’s going to feature Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, and probably Returnal since the game is coming out tomorrow. However, those are just two games. Considering that 15 minutes is being dedicated to the latest Ratchet and Clank game, I reckon that Sony has a couple of surprises up its sleeves. I have a few ideas around what these surprises might be, but it’s really quite hard to pin them down based on any evidence. It’s more my personal hunches that are making me hope.

First, and this is something I always want to see at these events, The Last Of Us Part 2 Factions mode, or the rumored remaster of The Last Of Us with Factions mode intact. I would absolutely love to see this get announced, and maybe even just released the same day I can’t think of anything better. Sadly, this is low on the list in terms of likelihood. I think sony would make a much bigger deal of both of these things if they were coming, meaning that they’re almost certainly E3 material for the company. That doesn’t mean that they won’t come out of an E3 reveal though.

Sony has a hard year ahead of it with almost no big PS5 exclusives on the way anymore. All the ones that were scheduled for the short-term are gone too. Deathloop was going to be a saving grace, but that’s no longer a thing. I have to wonder what Sony has behind the scenes.

One thing that I think we might be surprised to see is a big look at Resident Evil Village. Sony and Capcom have a pretty close deal on this one, and that looks like what both companies are leaning on in the short-term. I’m not sure how much more of the game we can realistically see before launch without spoiling it. However, there’s always something small that we could get a look at that won’t necessarily ruin everything for everyone. I just hope that things don’t go so far that a big spoiler is dropped in the middle of an event that millions of people tune in to watch.
