Okay, I admit it, I was wrong about the launch date for Expedition #3 in No Man’s Sky. I thought it would come out at the end of June, but we’re halfway through July now and it’s looking less and less likely that it’s coming soon. My prediction was always going to be a bit off because I’ve only had two Expeditions to base it on. I’ve seen a lot of other players predict that July 8 was the launch date, but that also didn’t happen. Instead of making a new prediction about the launch date, I now have a theory about the contents of the upcoming Expedition. I think it’s all about love.

The Tweet above is a copy of a post on the official No Man’s Sky Reddit where one user has said that you can fall in love over and over again by playing No Man’s Sky. Sean Murray himself added a love emoji, and he only uses emojis to tease us. This isn’t the first love related post he’s shared though. There have been others, and that’s why I’m certain that it’s key to the next Expedition. I reckon players will need to meet up across the galaxies and perform tasks together as a community.
Past Expeditions have required players to work together before, but it’s only been in the final Phase. I think that Expedition #3 is going to have a lot more cooperation for us. The game is certainly built for it, and I found that in the Expedition save file I created there were loads of other players around. You can’t fly anywhere without seeing another player. It’s a nice way to play the game and removes that feeling of loneliness that can sometimes come from a standard playthrough.
It would make sense to have players work together in Expedition #3 because everyone is clustered in such small spaces. We could build bases for each other, summon vehicles, and even work together to survey planets or something similar. There are potentially endless possibilities, we just need to have the tasks given to us in the game. It’s just a matter of waiting now.
