We Need More Boss Races In Hot Wheels Unleashed

One of the best parts of playing Hot Wheels Unleashed is conquering the Boss Races. Unlike most games, the bosses in this game are the races themselves. they’re challenging tracks with unique obstacles and incredibly tough AI opponents. I’ve won four out of five at the time of writing, and they’ve all been incredibly difficult. The team at Milestone has also put most of its effort into making these tracks as visually stunning and hard to drive on as possible. They’re the shining beacon of creativity in this game, and I don’t think I’d have it any other way. However, I would like more boss races, please.

The boss races are the activities you work towards from the word go in the campaign. There are only time trials and races to battle with, so anything that’s a slight change from the standard fare is extremely welcome. Each boss race has a monster to represent it, such as a yeti or a spider. The obstacles on the track are part of that monster. The yeti spawns ice on the track that prevents you from being able to turn your car for a short while, and the spider shoots webs that will stick you to the track for a few seconds while everyone who avoids the webs races past you.

I’ve really enjoyed the challenge of taking these boss races on, but after four of them, I know that the fifth won’t be enough to satisfy me. I need more. This game has a lot to offer, and while I fear that most of it is going to be locked behind the paywall of expansions, my hope is that new boss races can be added in for free with updates over time. The basic world map has a lot of room for more events, and I think Milestone would do well out of providing such free updates to this game.

The developer needs to strike while the iron is hot with this one. If it puts in more content for free this close to launch, it’s going to attract a lot of attention. If it doesn’t though, I think the game could start to fall away under the weight of much bigger titles.
