FIFA 23 is the very latest game in EA’s long-running franchise football franchise. It was first released in September 2022 and was met with mostly positive reception from critics. It achieved a respectable score of 76 out of 10 on the PS5. However, the game’s launch was not without certain bugs and errors. A particularly troublesome one is known as the ‘anti-cheat error’ which affects PC players. In this article, I will be covering what exactly this error is and most importantly how to fix it.
What is the Anti-Cheat Error in FIFA 23?
The error is a software issue involving FIFA 23’s anti-cheat system that has prevented PC users from launching FIFA 23. The anti-cheat system has specifically caused issues when launching the game from steam or origin. This is an issue that has been officially acknowledged by EA. An official statement was put out stating “We are aware of the issues some PC players have experienced when launching FIFA 23, which are largely related to EA anti-cheat software. We are actively working on a fix. We see and understand our PC community’s frustration, and we apologize.”
How to Fix the Anti-Cheat Error.
There are multiple different things you can do to help fix this error. I will the list the order of steps you should take below.
- Firstly, simply try restarting the game. This is the easiest thing to do and could help solve the error in some cases. You have nothing to lose by doing this, and so this is a good place to start.
- Next, try running steam or origin as an administrator. Simply right-click on the launch icon and select ‘run as administrator’ from the menu. You can also launch it from file explorer by finding where the game is installed and by launching the program called ‘FIFA23.exe’.
- If this doesn’t work, try deleting and re-installing the FIFA 23 anti-cheat software. This can be done by firstly going into files. Next, search for a program called EAAntiCheat.Installer.exe. Right-click and delete it. By doing this, the anti-cheat software will be forced to re-install. This will reset the software and hopefully fix the issue.
- As a last resort, you may have to uninstall and then re-install the game.
