Red Dead Redemption 2 is a much beloved action-adventure title by Rockstar. It first launched on the PS4 and Xbox One in 2018 to widespread critical acclaim. From the beautiful visuals, to the immersive story, there is a lot to love about the game. In part due to its popularity, many fans are now wondering what Rockstar has in store for the next game in the franchise. In this article, I will be addressing exactly that. Read on below for all the rumours and current information on Red Dead Redemption 3.
Has Red Dead Redemption 3 Been Confirmed?
Unfortunately, no. As of writing this article, there has been no official confirmation for Red Dead Redemption 3. At this point in time, it seems apparent that much of Rockstar’s focus is currently on Grand Theft Auto VI. It is likely however that more information will be revealed once production on the latest Grand Theft Auto title starts to wrap up.
At last years Global Interactive Entertainment Conference last year, Rockstar’s CEO Strauss Zelnick seemed quite confident that there will indeed be another Red Dead Redemption 3.
“The new Bond film, that was great” he stated, before saying that “You would like every franchise to be James Bond. There are precious few entertainment franchises of any sort that fall into that category, but they do exist… I think Red Dead is one of them.”
Lastly Zelnick went on to add that “annualising non-sports titles runs the risk of burning out the intellectual property, even if it’s good. So we take the time to make something we think is incredibly phenomenal, and we also rest titles intentionally so that there’s pent-up demand for that title, so it’s a special event,”
When Will it Be Released?
There are no specific rumours or leaks as to the release date of the sequel at the moment. Nevertheless, Zelnick’s comments give a lot of credibility to a future release of the game.
There was an 8 year gap between the release of the original Red Dead Redemption in 2010 and the sequel in 2018. As a result, we are unlikely to see Red Dead Redemption 3 before 2026. With how long Grand Theft Auto VI has been in development, we may not see the game until 2030. It is clear that Rockstar wants to take its time to make sure the game is as good as possible.
Red Dead Redemption 3 Rumours
Rumours on the game are quite scarce compared to Grand Theft Auto VI. Nevertheless that doesn’t mean that there hasn’t been anything at all of note.
One notable rumour comes from twitter user @MyTimeToShineHello. This poster has a good track record but usually focuses on information about upcoming movies. Nevertheless, they recently made a succinct post stating that “Red Dead Redemption 3 is officially in the works”.
It goes without saying that this should be taken with a pinch of salt so long as the game remains unconfirmed.
Overall, the rumours concerning Read Redemption 3 remain quite far and in between. Hopefully, we will know more before too long. In the mean time, don’t hesitate to check out all the latest leaks on Rockstar’s next upcoming game. None other than Grand Theft Auto VI.
