This is not a drill. The clown prince of crime himself, The Joker, is coming to Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League
What Batman or DC game about villains, is complete without the jovial jaunty jester himself?
The Joker is no stranger to video games, with over 10 appearances to his name. However, when Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League launches, he will be curiously absent…
This conspicuous hole will be filled in March when the live service game’s first season of post-launch content is released.

Rocksteady have been away for a few years. Their return has brought about the polarising Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. A multiplayer live-service looter shooter in spirit. It is set five years after the Arkham series’ conclusion and in the same universe. The game is sure to have anyone scratching their head who managed to finish the Arkham series.
(Spoilers for Batman: Arkham City below)
The one thing to get straight here is that this Joker isn’t The Joker from the Arkham-verse. Anyone who has played that game will know that The Joker finally won his, ‘to-and-fro- with Batman and had the last laugh by dying by his own hand. This came in the shape of the Titan formula. This Joker is an alternate version of the character, being pulled from DC Comics’ non-canonical Elseworlds comics.
Gone is the distinctive cackle and throat-clearing guffaw of Mark Hamill’s Joker, replaced with a – pretty much – self-same impersonator. – think the new Rick and Morty and you’re on the right track. The Joker returns however, dressed in his standard purple and green outfit, topped with the clown facepaint and rouge we have all come to know and love.
In this universe, The Joker was previously part of the Suicide Squad and he is currently undergoing a journey of self-realisation and self-discovery.
This new Joker may not have the same nuance as The Jokers of old, but he is sure to make up for that by being the ‘agent of chaos’ we all know and love/loathe.
What is the Joker bringing to the party?
The Joker is coming to Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League and his arsenal in-game includes:
- A rocket-powered Umbrella which he uses to get around
- Mace on a chain for destroying anyone daft enough to get in his way
He will launch with a Joker-themed environment, two gameplay episodes with missions. New enemies and boss fights, a litany of extra gear, weapons, and some Riddler content will also come in his wake.
Rocksteady has clarified that the game’s gameplay additions will be free-of-charge, and only the cosmetics will cost actual money.
The game’s seasons are sure to kick off with a bang, with The Joker heading up the charge. Each new addition will be themed around a new character from the DC universe.
When is he coming?
The game launches officially on the 2nd February, and season one begins with The Joker’s arrival in March. Three more playable characters will be added through seasons 2-4, and they will each come with weapons, gear, environments, missions, etc.
Will this be enough to get detractors back after an unsuccessful preview campaign, or will people just see through this as a marketing ploy for a game with nothing to say and everything to pay? We will see when it launches on 02/02/2024.
