The latest patch for Escape From Tarkov is here and it brings with it many player-requested tweaks, as well as a slight nerf to rouge farming.
However, these changes are not much compared to the additions with the most recent wipe, which added a new map and a seasonal blanket of snow to all locations in Tarkov.
The new map is set to act as a pseudo tutorial for Escape From Tarkov. It is going to be where the story begins when the game fully releases. But currently, it is a level-locked map where all of the first quests you get take place on. This combined with the new snow weather on all maps makes for quite an interesting start for all the players both new and old.
Escape From Tarkov Patch Notes – Patch 14.0.1 – January 2024
Speaking of snow, that is one of the big fixes added with the most recent patch for Escape From Tarkov. Here is the full list of patch notes before we break down the more major changes:
- Fixed incorrect ammo penetration and damage calculations in some situations.
- Reduced the loudness of footsteps on snow.
- Fixed the ability to inspect and modify unexamined armor lying on the ground.
- Removed the display of integrated armor component prices on the trading screen.
- Fixed the incorrect behavior of Rogues when defending the water treatment plant buildings on Lighthouse.
- Fixed the inability to complete some quest conditions.
- Fixed an issue that caused infinite loading into a raid when playing as a Scav in some situations.
- Fixed visual effects of bloom and sun glare on all locations.
- Interchange color correction is now closer to other locations.
- Fixed the lack of fog in optical sights in some situations.
- Fixed the inability to pick up some items, including quest items.
- Fixed the ability to pass through solid obstacles in some situations.
- Fixed the ability to transfer items displayed in the Hall of Fame for quests.
- Fixed the Airdrop loot appearing as not Found in Raid.
- Increased spawn points for Scavs on the Ground Zero location.
The two massive changes that will affect players the most is the fix for ammo penetration and damage, and the quiet footsteps in the snow. Having your ammo work properly is a big deal with how fast fights can be over in escape from Tarkov. As with most patch notes, the exact situations are left vague, but many players speculate that this fix is directed at specific armor plats and ammo types that didn’t seem to work well together and were leading to those ammo types not going through the armor properly.
