Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Wave 2 Is Worth Your Time

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity feels like a game that’s basically done with. Nintendo launched it and a bunch of DLC, and then it left the game to sit there for a good long time. However, this is a Zelda game, and with the magical combination of Zelda and Musou, there’s no letting go. That’s why we’ve got a second wave of fresh content coming next month, on October 29, and it looks like it’s going to add more of what players want from this spin-off franchise. I’ve only recently gotten into the Musou genre, so I’m extremely pleased to see this game getting more content for me to dive into.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is an interesting one. It’s a prequel to Breath of the Wild and therefore placed in quite an interesting point in the Zelda timeline. I don’t really think that matters too much though, because all the Zelda timeline stuff doesn’t make sense anyway. Just think of each game like a self-contained version of the legend. Age of Calamity is very different to the mainline series though, because it sees all the major heroes battling hordes of enemies with absolutely ridiculous levels of strength and power. To be honest, it fits better than it does in other Musou game because at least this is a fantasy universe.

I don’t know what this second wave of content is going to give to us in terms of story and gameplay, but we all know the things we want. Let’s have a new character or two to battle with, it would also be good to get some new modes and areas to explore. Basically, Nintendo needs to build upon everything that’s already in the game and take it to the next level. Fans of both Musou and the Zelda franchise will eat it up, and that’s something that could be easy to abuse. However, Nintendo has proven that it can make a decent game out of this spin-off series, so I’m hopeful for what’s to come with this expansion. This is now also the perfect time to pick the game up cheap so you can enjoy the second wave on day one with all of the story under your belt.
