How to Get Out of Far Fields in Hollow Knight: Silksong

Far Fields in Silksong

The key to finding a way out of the Far Fields in Hollow Knight: Silksong is in the Drifter’s Cloak, a special garment that allows you to glide on upward wind currents. This guide will provide you with tips and tricks on how to unlock the Drifter’s Cloak and get out of Far Fields for good.

Complete the Flexile Spines Hunt Quest

As soon as you arrive at the Far Fields from the Deep Docks area, look out for the Shakra NPC in the lower paths. Shakra is the cartographer who can sell you a map of the Far Fields, which is very important. You can find her location, indicated by the yellow circle in the map above, very close to the Fourth Chorus boss (red circle) in the Pilgrim’s Rest area.

Use the map to find the central area, as that’s where the Seamstress’s workshop is located (white circle). The entrance is marked by a floating balloon, so you shouldn’t miss it. Speak to Seamstress and she’ll give you the chance to complete the Flexile Spines Hunt quest, which is rather simple. All you need to do is to collect 25 Spine Cores from Hokers that look like spiked balloons. Here are a few essential tips on how to get the required number of cores:

  • Hokers typically spawn near lava, but you shouldn’t kill them, or they won’t drop the cores.
  • Instead, you need to slash their spines that they shoot mid-air. If you do it right, each slashed spine will drop a core.
  • Check out the immediate area around the Seamstress’s workshop, as that’s where most Hokers spawn.
  • If you find Hokers inside caves, then leaving and re-entering the cave respawns Hokers, which is a really easy way to farm their spines.

Once you collect all 25 Spine Cores, bring them to the Seamstress, and she’ll reward you with the Drifter’s Cloak.

Use Drifter’s Cloak to Escape Far Fields

As soon as you equip the Drifter’s Cloak, you’ll be able to double-jump glide. This ability will allow you to use the windy upstreams of the central chamber to leave the Far Fields. Here’s how to use this ability:

  1. Press “Jump” once in mid-air.
  2. Press “Jump” again, not just for a double jump, but to release the spines.
  3. Make sure that your second jump happens inside the upstream.

You can practice your skills by jumping into the upstreams of hot air and jumping again and again until you get the grasp of this new technique. Keep jumping from one upstream to another, avoiding enemies on the way up, until you reach the ceiling of the Far Fields and break through it. At this stage, you’ll end up in the area above the Far Fields, which is called the Greymoor.

It’s also recommended to defeat the Fourth Chorus boss before leaving Far Fields, although it’s optional, as well as unlock the Bellway fast travel point in the Far Fields, which will cost you 50 Rosaries at the terminal, in case you need to come back quickly. Note that you can use the Drifter’s Cloak to easily beat the boss, as it’ll allow you to dodge his attacks mid-air.
