Pokémon GO Now Lets You Trade with Friends More Than 100m Away

One of the most requested features for Pokémon GO has finally been added to the mobile AR monster catcher. The newly added Remote Trading feature lets players trade with friends without being in the same physical location. Previously, both players involved in a trade had to be within 100 meters of each other.

Remote Trading requires both players to have achieved a few Friendship Level called Forever Friends, which is above Best Friends level. To become Forever Friends, two Best Friends must consistently interact with each other (gifts, raids battles, etc.) every day for roughly 90 days. It costs 90 Friendship Points to perform a Remote Trade, and, crucially, they don’t stack, so you’ll likely want to use them as soon as you get them for efficiency.

As expected, fans are excited to start trading. Many players have accumulated friends from all over the world through online communities and remote raiding; Remote Trading now allows them to complete trades with the friends they could never meet in real life. This is also a win for accessibility, as it now makes trading possible for those with difficulties attending meetups due to a lack of road access, mobility issues, or other personal circumstances.
