Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter Remake Is Coming Fall 2026

Falcom released a new video announcing that Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter Remake will release in Fall 2026 for the PlayStation 5, Switch, Switch 2, and PC. The video also announces that the game will have a worldwide simultaneous release, which should come as a relief to fans outside of Japan.

The story in 2nd Chapter Remake concludes the arc first introduced in 1st Chapter, which was positively received both critically and by die-hard Trails fans when it launched this September. Falcom promises new content for the 2nd Chapter that ties the story to later titles in the series, including Easter eggs and nods to later games. Players who’ve played 1st Chapter can carry over their clear data from the first game to obtain special bonus items.

While it never achieved the mainstream popularity of Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest, The Legend of Heroes series has been a long-time cult favorite among JRPG fans. Part of why it failed to capture the western market was the lack of timely localized ports (many installments took several years before they were localized to English). Falcom seems to have finally identified that as a major issue with 1st Chapter, which was the first game in the series to get a global simultaneous release. For the 2nd Chapter, we can expect both English and Japanese voiceovers, with text support in English, French, Spanish, and German.
