Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Earns Activision $550 Million in Three Days

According to press release from Activision, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 has generated over $550 million in worldwide sales within its first three days after its November 6 launch. Activision boasts that this makes Black Ops 3 the biggest entertainment launch of 2015. One thing that was not clarified was whether or not the sales figure includes PS4 console bundle sales or just copies of the game.

Along with this information, Activision shared several other stats surrounding the game’s release. Call of Duty players played Black Ops 3 for more than 75 million hours within the first three days, setting a franchise record for engagement. They also saw a 100% increase in “next generation consoles” digital downloads.

After dipping a bit in sales over the past two entries, which included Ghosts and Advanced Warfare, it appears as though Call of Duty has returned to form. Whether or not Black Ops 3 has the staying power of older entries in the series is still to be seen. Stay tuned to Power Up Gaming for additional information concerning Black Ops 3.
