PS VR Launch Title Windlands Fails Sony Certification, May Be Delayed By a Few Weeks

PlayStation VR

While Sony’s PlayStation VR launches tomorrow with a stellar selection of launch titles, one game that hoped to be amongst the system’s day one line-up has fallen at the last hurdle.

UK-based studio Psytec Games confirmed in an email to Power Up Gaming that its grappling hook exploration title Windlands has failed to satisfy Sony’s final quality assurance checks due to “a few minor issues”, and subsequently will not be available for download on the PlayStation store tomorrow.

The developer assured us that it has now resolved the issues highlighted by Sony, and has resubmitted a new build for approval. In a Twitter post made prior to today’s official announcement, however, a spokesman for the company hinted that the re-certification process could take “a few weeks” to complete should the game fail to pass first time around.

While Windlands will make exclusive use of the DualShock 4 upon launch, Psytec told us that they intend to patch Move support into the full game in the future.

Power Up Gaming recently had the opportunity to try out the title at EGX 2016 on PlayStation VR, and noticed no major issues with the game.
