Now that Forza Horizon 5 has been announced, with a release date in November of this year no less, it’s time to give up on everything else you’re playing. Time to stop pretending that you’re not into racing games, because everyone’s into Forza. The games have been so well-made that it’s impossible to hate them. Even if you’re terrible at them, they’re still very much worth playing. This has never been more evident than in Forza Horizon 4, which you can all access right now. For those with Xbox Game Pass, you don’t even need to buy it. That’s how much you need to be playing it, because it’s basically too freely available.
The Forza Horizon series is a set of games in which you race around the world. Each game has had a different setting, and in 4 I believe it’s the UK. The game has had a lot of DLC, so there’s a lot to catch up on if you’re desperate to play it all. The only one worth playing for me is the Lego DLC, and I think that probably applies to everyone. The game has some of the most stunning visuals you’ll see in a racing game, and the actual controls were already good back in the days of the Xbox 360, let alone this title, which first launched for Xbox One.
The fact that the game is part of Xbox Game Pass should make it a no-brainer for all subscribers. That’s why I’m playing it. I’m notoriously terrible at racing games, and they infuriate me to no end. However, I want to play Forza Horizon 4 because I want to be able to jump into Forza Horizon 5 and its version of Mexico later this year with some serious miles under my belt. It’s a game that I think will transform winter for me, and that’s my hope for everyone else.
In the UK especially, November is a time when we’re all stuck indoors because it’s far too cold outside. We huddle together near fires to keep warm, and playing games set in warm locations is part of how we keep warmer. Don’t jump in underprepared, play Forza Horizon 4 first.
