Recently, Frontier Developments shone a little bit of light on what the Chaos Theory mode in Jurassic World Evolution 2 is. The game mode is a series of side quests to the main story. There’s one for each movie in the Jurassic World universe, meaning you’ve got quite a few to work through. However, the twist is that all of these are scenarios where a key event turned out differently. For example, in Jurassic Park’s mission, you’ll be bringing the San Diego park to life and making it a success because the events of the original film didn’t turn out quite so terribly. I think these will be brilliant because they’re all what we want to see from a universe filled with so many possibilities.
I don’t know what each scenario will look like, but I like that they’re all canon in the same way that Marvel’s What If is for the MCU. For Jurassic Park 3, I’d like to see players building a successful park instead of a research facility. The place had so much potential to be incredible, particularly with the massive bird enclosure for the flying dinosaurs. Players will be able to make the most of it and see how things could have turned out differently if Ingen weren’t so awful and caused the dinosaurs to kill them all.
Along the same lines, I’d like to see what, if anything, could have happened differently between Jurassic World and the sequel. I think that if the island wasn’t about to explode because of the volcano, the place could have been cleaned up and improved. That would be a nice adventure for all players, and tie into the same rescuing mechanics that players will be working with in the main game.
More than anything though, I want to see what the developers have done to claw Jurassic Park 2 back to being a good entry. Each time I try to marathon the films, this is the one that breaks me, so I want to know what could have been done differently. Maybe we could build the park into a holiday destination. I think it’ll look a lot more like the main story though, with players rescuing all the dinosaurs that are thriving in the area.
