The Stories In Jurassic World Evolution 2 Are Canon

The latest developer diary video for Jurassic World Evolution 2 reveals that both the story and Chaos Theory mode contain canonical stories. While the Chaos Theory mode stories are like Marvel’s What If series for the MCU, the actual core campaign is what takes place after the events of Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom. These have been worked on in conjunction with the IP owners and the people who look after Jurassic World’s lore, so we can take this stuff as the absolute truth in terms of the wider universe. I’m excited to be playing through a new part of the series because I grew up loving the Jurassic Park films and now I get to play one of them.

The main campaign in the game sees players take on the role of a saviour rather than the usual park manager who exploits the dinosaurs for money. There’s no attraction to build this time, instead, you’re rescuing dinosaurs from the wild areas around the US and bringing them together in a secure park where they’re safe, and everyone is safe from them. I like the shift in focus here because it’s much more accurate. While building a park and making as much money as possible is great fun, it’s not exactly the right vibe for Jurassic World’s current story.

So how will this play? Well, I expect we’ll be taken to various locations around the US and told to set up a base of operations. From there, we’ll need to use the helicopters and staff we have on hand to head out and pick up all the dinosaurs in the area. I think the dinosaurs will probably be gathered in specific areas where they feel comfortable, with the possible exception of the flying ones. This will make it easy to identify states or cities where your skills are required.

From there, I imagine there will be a series of events that occur over the course of a mission that see you pick up more and more dinosaurs. The first game had a point at which you could move on or stay to acquire five stars if you wanted. I think something similar will be present in the sequel, but it’ll be more about improving the quality of life of the captured dinosaurs and helping the local community stay safe, which will, in turn, improve your star rating.
