Atomic Heart is a mind-bending FPS that throws you into a retro-futuristic world of an alternative 1950s Soviet Union. The game is full of brain-teasing puzzles and while not all are mandatory, if you decide to solve them, you are in for huge rewards. One location brimming with puzzles is the Hospital section within the Pavlov Complex. In this guide, we will cover all Hospital’s locked doors so you reap your rewards and continue your path to the labs.
How to Unlock Hospital Door in Atomic Heart
The Hospital section in Atomic Heart’s Pavlov complex throws several locked doors at you, blocking your path to the labs. Nevertheless, we have it all covered so here is what you need to do. These are the types of locked doors in Hospital in Atomic Heart:
Light Puzzle Door: This door requires solving a puzzle based on a pattern of lights.
Colored Dot Matching Door: This door features a keypad with colored buttons and colored dots on the lock itself. You need to match the colors on the keypad to the dots on the lock for it to open.
Timing Lock Door: This door uses a time-sensitive mechanic. Red lights will move across cylinders on the lock. You need to press a specific button (likely A on Xbox) at the exact moment the red light crosses a cylinder, doing this successfully multiple times within a time limit.
Keycard Door: This door requires a physical keycard to unlock. You’ll need to explore the area to find it.
With that in mind, let’s start.
Door #1: Blood Courier
While traversing Section 7 of the Atomic Heart Hospital, you will find a locked door, behind which you will find 5 loot boxes.
Head down to the wrecked hospital ward on the bottom floor. Locate the bloody curtain with a circle on it. This seemingly gruesome scene holds the key! Stand near the curtain and carefully observe the environment. You’ll see a specific pattern of red circles – memorize this pattern. This very pattern is the code for the light buttons on the pad next to the Blood Courier door (Left, Center, Bottom, Upper Right). Press the buttons in this exact order to unlock the door and access the loot boxes.
Door #2: Colored Dot Matching
You will find this next to the Blood Courier door which will then lead you to the basement.
This door requires some color coordination. You need to look at the lock closely to see the color scheme. The dots you see on the lock itself will be colored differently. Now, turn your attention to the keypad next to the lock. It features colored buttons. By pressing these buttons, you can adjust the color of the dots displayed on the keypad. Match the colors on the keypad to the dots on the lock itself (e.g., if a dot on the lock is red, match it with a red button press on the keypad). Once all colors are aligned perfectly, the door will unlock, granting you access to the basement.
Door # #3: Timing Lock Door (Drain System)
Once you reach the basement, another locked door puzzle awaits you.
This door will test your reflexes and precise timing. First, locate the wheel in the drain system and turn it. This action will turn on the timing lock on the door. Now, stand near the locked door and prepare for a test of your reflexes. Focus solely on the red light as it moves across the cylinders on the lock. In a limited time window, you need to press the corresponding button depending on whether you play on a joystick or keyboard and mouse, at the exact moment the red light crosses over a specific cylinder.
Try not to get distracted by any green lights that may appear, only focus on the red ones. You need to do this successfully five times in a row for the door to unlock.
Door #4: Keycard Door (Plyusch Lab)
The location of this door is in the lab area.
Brute force won’t help here! This door requires a physical keycard. Explore the hospital thoroughly to find it. Look for a room on the left side within the lab area. This room has closets, make sure to loot them carefully, and you’ll find the keycard you need. Once you have the keycard in your possession, locate the lock on the lab door. Insert the keycard into the lock, and the door should unlock, giving you access to the lab.
While exploring for the keycard, be cautious of two inactive Plyusch (mutant creatures) in the lab. To avoid them, do not shoot or touch their tubes. Simply maintain a safe distance and focus on eliminating other mutants that may pose a threat.
