Capcom’s Monster Hunter Wilds has topped 10 million sales in just one month, according to a blog post on the official CAPCOM website. That number is a new record for the franchise, making Wilds the fastest-selling Monster Hunter game in the same timeframe, surpassing Monster Hunter: World, which previously held the record.
It’s no surprise—the game’s producers have said that Wilds was the result of a conscious effort to streamline the series using lessons learned from the success of both Monster Hunter Rise and World. These changes included some of the biggest shifts the series has seen in years including full crossplay across platforms, a seamless open-world structure, and a new “Focus Mode” designed to refine combat.
In Japan, Wilds’ success even looks to have had a knock-on effect for Sony. The company’s recently launched PS5 rental service is struggling to keep up with demand since Monster Hunter Wilds was released in late February. At the time of writing, rental units are booked through all of April and into early May.

The US has also been caught up in the Wilds frenzy. Monster Hunter Wilds was the best-selling game in the US in February. Interestingly, according to a previous report, Steam accounted for more than half of those US sales, further proving that Capcom’s investment in PC gaming is paying off. The company has been doubling down on the platform in recent years, ensuring that its major releases arrive on PC alongside consoles—something that’s clearly resonating with players.
Capcom is looking to capitalize on this momentum. The first free title update drops on April 4, adding returning monster Mizutsune and a brand-new social hub, The Grand Gathering Hall, where players can meet up and coordinate hunts. Another big update is already lined up for the summer.
