Best Books of Nagash Collection Routes

Books of Nagash

Books of Nagash can be carried by Lords or held in settlements, and you can transfer them between your own armies in the same region, but they can be stolen by anyone. Although book locations have a degree of randomization in each campaign, you can still follow a consistent pattern to find them all. Here’s how:

TurnsRoutes
Phase 1: Turns 1–15
  1. Clear immediate threats around the Black Pyramid and Black Tower of Arkhan area.
  2. Sack for Dark Magic and Necromantic Energy, then convert key settlements into Burial Chambers or Necropolises.
  3. Subjugate Arkhan the Black as soon as conditions allow.
  4. He frequently starts with a book, so claiming him can hand you one immediately, plus his empire.
  5. Hunt local rogue armies near the Southlands, Araby, or Badlands.
  6. Common ones include variants of Black Creek Raiders, Dwellers of Zardok, Eyes of the Jungle, and Pilgrims of Myrmidia.
  7. Occupy any nearby settlement that holds a book.
Phase 2: Turns 15–40
  1. Clear remaining local rogues and settlements.
  2. Vampire Coast or southern settlements sometimes hold books.
  3. Convert coastal sites to Pirate Coves and target any books held by factions or rogues in the Badlands.
  4. There’s also a high chance of finding books near Vampire Counts territory.
  5. Be ready to contest or reclaim if another faction grabs one first.
  6. Subjugating Vlad or Mannfred later can transfer the books they hold.
  7. Watch for books that move, so if an enemy Lord carries one, defeat them immediately.
Phase 3: Turns 40+
  1. Check Ulthuan and High Elf areas for occasional settlements with rogue books.
  2. Raid Lustria and Vampire Coast for more coastal books.
  3. Northern Empire and Chaos Wastes hold some of the later books that may have moved north.
  4. Any remaining rogue armies can respawn or relocate if a book is disposed of.
  5. Reclaim any books denied by other factions, as they can send them to their capital or even remove them, although they reappear after a cooldown.
