Traits are an important part of the customization process when you begin Starfield. After you pick one of the many Backgrounds, you can select up to three Traits. Each of which gives you different modifiers for your character. However, these are optional, and if you prefer to go on your journey without them, you can. But they can provide benefits to your character. Such as increased Health and Oxygen. Or getting a nicer home on a different planet. With various options and only getting to pick three of them, it can be tough. Therefore, we have all the Traits listed for you. As well as which ones can be the best to choose when you start in Starfield.

Best Traits to Equip in Starfield

Picking three of the different Traits to use is tricky. Although they provide benefits for you, there are also some negatives to expect. However, there are still some clear top choices. Each of which can help you enjoy the game more, especially when you are just starting. If you are having trouble, we have the best Traits to use in the game below:

  • Alien DNA: Having increased health and oxygen is a big boost early on. Food and other items may be less effective, but there is plenty to find in the game. So you’ll be able to make up for it.
  • Extrovert: Players who are looking to have human companions with them, this is a great Trait. It allows you to use less oxygen all the time. And if you are aiming always to have a companion, you don’t need to worry about using more. Therefore, you have more stamina constantly.
  • Terra Firma: If you are looking to spend more time on planets, Terra Firma is a good pick. Gaining increased health and oxygen while on the ground is a big help.
  • Wanted: While being hunted by random NPCs isn’t great. This option is good because you can get some free gear whenever you take them down. Furthermore, if you are low on health, the extra damage can come in handy.

Each of the Traits in Starfield contributes to your playstyle. While there are negatives to them, they are more than useful to have. However, it comes down to preference. The best choices are more than worth using. And if you don’t like a Trait, you can get it removed at one of the various NPCs. Once you select your Background and Traits, you’ll be ready to sail among the stars in the game.
