A "reimagining" of popular Nazi-slaying franchise Wolfenstein is set to explode onto current and next generation consoles later this year.
Publisher Bethesda confirmed in a press release that Swedish developers MachineGames will be charged with rebooting the influential first-person shooter. The developer’s creative director, Jens Matthies, said: "As fans of the series, working on this game is an honor, and our team is driven to create an unforgettable action-adventure experience that will make FPS fans proud."
According to Gamespot, Wolfenstein: The New Order will take place in a post-World War II universe where Nazi forces have reigned triumphant. Players will assume the role of American war hero B.J. Blazkowicz as he takes on the oppressive regime.
The game is set for release on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC – as well as next-generation consoles – in the fourth quarter of 2013. Check out the teaser trailer below.
