Gearbox Announces Borderlands: The Handsome Collection

Fans of the Borderlands series will be happy to hear that Gearbox Software has officially announced Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, a remastered bundle for the Xbox One and Playstation 4.

The bundle gets its name from the two games it pairs together: Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, both of which focus on the fan favorite Handsome Jack. Despite its focus on the series’ lovable psychopath, the bundle will not include Telltale Games’ Tales from the Borderlands, which also featured the character.

The announcement comes after a leak by an Australian ratings board sparked rumors of a remastered collection for new-gen consoles. Though now partially confirmed, fans of the original Borderlands will, for now, have to settle for the later instalments.

For players new to Borderlands, the game offers an incredible opportunity to jump in to the universe, as the bundle includes all released DLC for the two games. Borderlands veterans will also be happy to know that they can transfer their existing saves from their previous generation consoles to its current gen equivalent, meaning all that hard-earned loot and impressive, badass ranks will carry over.

Though new features are rare in remastered editions, The Handsome Collection will include four-player splitscreen co-op, meaning players can now create a full party from the comfort (or discomfort, depending on the size) of their couch.

For those looking for a more Borderlands-y purchase, Gearbox also announced a limited “Claptrap-in-a-Box” edition that will be available for $400 USD. As the name suggests, the game will come with a remote control Claptrap. If you want a Claptrap of your own, act fast. Only 5,000 copies are being sold.

The limited edition version will also include a steelbook case and lithographs of each of the included games’ vault hunters.
