The teaser trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops III may have only been revealed a couple of hours ago, but social media is already buzzing with users trying to decipher some of the clues featured in the minute-long video.

In addition to numerous symbols, faction logos (including the Trident symbol, which has been featured prominently in the viral campaign), numerals and lettering, viewers also spotted a few sets of hidden co-ordinates in the teaser, which point to a number of real-world locations.

The first set of co-ordinates is 1.3000°N, 103.8000°E, which lead to New Town primary school in Queenstown, Singapore. The second, 30.0500°N, 31.2333°E point to 6th October Bridge in Cairo, Egypt. Notably, this bridge was named to commemorate the the start of the October War in 1973. The final set of values, 47.3667°N, 8.5500°E lead to Zurich Prison in Switzerland.

It’s unclear how these sites will play a part in the Treyarch-developed shooter, but they will undoubtedly be of importance in the game; possibly the location of single-player campaign missions.

Meanwhile, the number 115 features prominently in and throughout the trailer. In the original Black Ops, Element 115, or Divinium, was the substance that led to the creation of zombies – hinting at the undead mode’s return in Black Ops III. Not only that, but an official game description, found buried on Activision’s website after the teaser was revealed, seems to confirm its inclusion. The sentence in question reads: “With three unique game modes: Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies, [Black Ops III] provides fans with the deepest and most ambitious Call of Duty ever.”

Update: In an official blog post on Activision’s website, communications manager Scott Lowe has confirmed that Black Ops III will release later in 2015. He said: “After working in the shadows, the team at Treyarch returns this year with Call of Duty: Black Ops III. There’s so much to talk about and I’m sure you all have plenty of questions, but the good news is you won’t have to wait long for answers – the world reveal of Call of Duty: Black Ops III is set for Sunday, April 26, so stay tuned for details.”

Original: Activision has today confirmed that the latest entry in its flagship shooter franchise will be Call of Duty: Black Ops III.

The publisher has recently been undertaking a viral campaign to promote a return to the Black Ops arc, and today’s teaser trailer – which was ‘leaked’ out by a number of high-profile YouTube users – confirms that developer Treyarch will be coming ‘#BackinBlack’ later this year.

The one-minute cryptic video doesn’t give much away besides the date of April 26 for a full reveal of the game, but it is likely packed with clues with regards to the title’s setting and storyline; a number of users have already spotted hidden co-ordinates for locations including Zurich, Switzerland and Cairo, Egypt.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II, which was released back in 2012, was the first game in the series to feature futuristic warfare technology and branching storylines driven by the decisions made by players. It went on to sell over 24 million copies worldwide.
