For today only (August 20), Nintendo is offering all Mario Kart 8 players the chance to race as DLC character Cat Peach online, regardless of whether or not they’ve purchased her as part of the appropriate content pack.
While this announcement may seem rather bizarre at first glance, there is a rather fun explanation. In celebration of the National Peach Month of August, Nintendo of America has been paying tribute to their everyone’s favourite damsel in distress, Princess Peach, via social media over the last few weeks.

The heir of the Mushroom Kingdom, Peach made her first appearance in 1985’s Super Mario Bros., and has been a mainstay – and love interest to Mario – in the iconic series ever since.
