A staple of every pro wrestling’s repertoire is the ability to talk smack to their opponents, and WWE 2K16 looks set to capture that animosity when it releases later this month.
In a series of short gameplay clips uploaded to the WWE2KDev Instagram and YouTube accounts, the wrestling sim’s developers have been showing off a number of authentic superstar-specific taunts – which not only include motion capture, but audio capture as well.
Going off the videos posted so far, recognisable cries of “Brie Mode!”, “New Day (Sucks!)”, “Are you not entertained?”, “This is my house!” and “WRDWFDSGSG!” from the likes of Brie Bella, The New Day, Sheamus, Paige and Rusev, respectively, will all be uttered as taunts during match-ups in WWE 2K16.
While audio taunts did make their way into last year’s instalment, they sounded incredibly canned, as though they’d hastily been uttered in a cramped 2K studio. This time around, they sound a lot more realised and lifelike, with a lot of added reverb and the crowd engaging with each superstar as they would in real life.
