4A Games, the developer behind the highly-acclaimed Metro series, has today unveiled ARKTIKA.1, an immersive, action packed, first-person VR shooter inspired by titles such as House of the Dead and Time Crisis.
Announced during the Oculus Connect 3 keynote in San Francisco earlier, ARKTIKA.1 promises players the most impressive VR visuals ever seen, combined with the gritty, dark, and captivating style that 4A are known for. The game will utilize the newest version of the studio’s 4A Engine to deliver those aforementioned graphics. In a press release, co-founder and creative director at 4A Games, Andriy Prokhorov, said: “At 4A Games, we pride ourselves on our ability to make immersive experiences, so creating ARKTIKA.1, a big, atmospheric VR shooter made a lot of sense”.
Naturally, the game is set in a post-apocalyptic ice age future, where only small pockets of the world are habitable, and everyone is fighting for resources in order to survive. Throughout the game, players will be fighting to protect their colony of Old Russia from pirates, marauders, and strange creatures, all in a glorifying VR experience.
ARKTIKA.1 will be an Oculus Touch exclusive, set to debut in Q2 2017. In the meantime, catch the world debut trailer below.
