Road Rage, a motorcycle combat racing game inspired by ’90s classic Road Rash, has today been rated ‘M’ for Mature by the ESRB ahead of its release on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
The US ratings board’s website states that the Maximum Games-published title, which was recently delayed until 2017, received its rating due to the game’s inclusion of strong language, suggestive themes and violence. The site also goes on to give a detailed ratings summary that sheds some light on the title’s over-the-top core gameplay:
This is an action racing game in which players assume the role of a motorist navigating the streets of a fictional city. Players are tasked with taking down rival gang members by riding their motorcycles and using a variety of weapons to strike down other riders. Players use baseball bats, swords, pipes, shovels, and hammers to hit gang members and sometimes civilians. Successful hits are depicted with slow-motion effects as figures’ bodies flail through the air. One area of the city contains neon signs advertising “Girls XXX.” Dialogue also contains some suggestive material/innuendo: “I think my men would like to have some new rides, and by ‘rides,’ I mean both bikes and girls, of course.” The words “f**k” and “sh*t” appear in dialogue.
Road Rage, developed by Team6 Game Studios, features over 90 missions and an open world for players to explore as they fight their way to the top of a ruthless motorcycle gang. It will be priced at $39.99 / £29.99 upon release.
