Looks like it’s time to grab some friends in Uncharted 4: developer Naughty Dog revealed today that Uncharted 4: Survival will be coming sometime in mid-December, with an exact date not known at this time.
The mode looks to build upon the successful co-operative mode, Co-Op Arena, which featured in Uncharted 2 and 3. Essentially, Uncharted 4: Survival is a wave-based game mode where you can party up with two friends to take down increasingly difficult enemies, complete specific and unique objectives throughout, all while ranking up through a tailored progression system.
In a PlayStation Blog post, Naughty Dog Game Designer Vinit Agarwal provided some details about the upcoming mode, stating that: “[Survival plays] across 50 waves and 10 maps, [players] face off against Shoreline mercenaries, heavily armored Brutes, Snipers, Hunters, and more that will only get more precise, more aggressive, and better equipped as time goes on.”
Survival mode also looks to force players to work together in order to complete the random objectives. These objectives can range from collecting treasures or taking out a specifically marked enemy. Also, Naughty Dog is looking to spice things up from time-to-time with randomized modifiers that will change gameplay, including equipment, weapon, or damage changes, to name a few.
As is the case with most multiplayer modes, Survival will feature its own progression system, complete with loadouts, character customization, mode-exclusive rewards, and its own Relic challenges for players to complete. Lastly, if Survival isn’t challenging enough on Hard Mode, Naughty Dog gifts players Crushing Mode, which promises to be “the ultimate test of skill and determination”.
