Shigeru Miyamoto would like to ‘put more energy’ into Nintendo’s Star Fox and Pikmin franchises, the iconic developer has revealed.
In a recent Q&A session held to promote the upcoming Super Mario Run, Miyamoto was asked by host Katie Linendoll about the game characters he felt most passionate about that “never quite made it”. Speaking via his translator, Nintendo executive Bill Trinen, Miyamoto responded by saying:
“I always wanted [Star Fox protagonist] Fox McCloud to be a bit more popular than he is, and I think another one would be Pikmin… I think I’ll need to put some more energy into these two.
“The Pikmin are very unique characters that I worked directly with the designer on to create, so I like them quite a bit.”
