Super Mario Run Gets Free ‘Friendly Run’ Mode

Despite Nintendo’s recent insistence that mobile title Super Mario Run would not be getting any new content, the company has today revealed a free new game mode for all users.

Friendly Run is an asynchronous multiplayer feature, similar to the game’s existing Toad Rally. Rather than using tickets to compete with strangers, however, the mode allows players to race their friends.

As its name suggests, Friendly Run does not provide any in-game rewards, and is instead an exhibition mode intended purely for bragging rights. To compete, you’ll have to have at least one player added to your integrated friends list.

All users will get to play Friendly Run at least once per day. By clearing world one, you’ll get three entries; completing world two provides five.
