UK Nintendo Switch Games Come with an Eye-Watering Recommended Retail Price

Following Nintendo’s official Switch reveal presentation last night, retailers have begun accepting pre-orders for the vast majority of titles announced during the show.

However, those in the UK may be in for a shock at some of the games’ recommended retail price (RRP) over in these shores. While Nintendo has revealed that the Switch’s full-priced games have an MSRP of $59.99 (~£49) in the US, in the UK selected titles have been bumped up into the £59.99 (~$73) bracket.

According to numerous retailers including Amazon, first-party titles including The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Xenoblade 2, Super Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 2 and Fire Emblem Warriors will all be priced at the £59.99 mark – while Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and ARMS will be priced more similarly to their US counterparts, at £49.99 (~$61).

It is thought the weakening of the pound and changing market conditions following last year’s Brexit vote are primarily responsible for Nintendo’s Switch pricing strategy. We have reached out to the company for an official response on the RRP of Switch titles within the UK.
