Sony’s PlayStation 4 has sold more than double the amount of Xbox One consoles worldwide, according to recently revealed estimates.
According to market research firm SuperData, the PS4 has shifted approximately 55 million units globally, against the Xbox One’s 26 million.
While Microsoft does not publicly reveal the sales data for its Xbox family of systems, these estimated figures were independently corroborated by Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad, who recently provided the following charts on Twitter, showing the PS4 at over 50 million unit sales, and the Xbox One at just over 25 million:
According to Ahmad, he used “both public and private data to work out total sales”, stating that he was “able to work out absolute minimums” based on the information he had available.
