The Nintendo Switch will sell 40 million units by 2020, according to forecasts issued today by a leading market research firm.
DFC Intelligence made the bold prediction in its Market Brief: Nintendo Switch Overview & Forecasts report, stating that despite the console being limited at release by a meagre launch lineup, it is a “compelling” piece of hardware that has the potential to “reach a much larger addressable market”.
Astonishingly, the firm claimed its estimates were “tempered” and “conservative”, given Nintendo’s previous track record with introducing new products; particularly the Wii U.
DFC expects the console to really come into its own in the 2017 holiday period, where it predicts “demand will be strong”.
