Analysts: Nintendo Switch to Sell 40 Million Consoles by 2020

The Nintendo Switch will sell 40 million units by 2020, according to forecasts issued today by a leading market research firm.

DFC Intelligence made the bold prediction in its Market Brief: Nintendo Switch Overview & Forecasts report, stating that despite the console being limited at release by a meagre launch lineup, it is a “compelling” piece of hardware that has the potential to “reach a much larger addressable market”.

Astonishingly, the firm claimed its estimates were “tempered” and “conservative”, given Nintendo’s previous track record with introducing new products; particularly the Wii U.

DFC expects the console to really come into its own in the 2017 holiday period, where it predicts “demand will be strong”.

Can the Switch really shift 40 million units in four years? Let us know in the comments below.

Yeah because projections by developers and other “analysts” for consoles and games have worked out so well. The last handful of predictions regarding Nintendo products have been scaled by huge. This console will be lucky to sell half that if Nintendo keeps up their clueless decision making trend and lack of titles worth buying for this console.

Ha! No way. It’s the Wii-U all over again. Their making the same mistakes again.

Not in a million years! each time we get new info on the switch it’s something bad, Like the matchmaking system, The 2 hour battery life when going portable, the specs that are more in line with WiiU, And basically a lot more. Nintendo fans will make excuses as they always do and forgive all the lackluster things they are bringing to the table simpy cause they are fanboys.

And those are just the few things that is wrong with Switch and not to mention their censorship on the software front and keeping things kiddy grade. Sony showed catering to the hardcore pays of but for some reason Nintendo is more interested to live of the profit off hardware sales instead of software.

Actually very little of what you said has any truth to it with Switch flaws.
-The matchmaking system was said to improve by ignoring friend codes, that aside, the system isn’t out yet and we don’t know what it will encompass.
-specs are beyond WiiU well and true, think it grand totals over double the floating point calculations to start.
And Switch can do everything else WiiU might not, and things even PS4/XB1 doesn’t.
My PC does what PS4 does aside its exclusives and most of the time will massacre it in quality
My PC can’t do what Swith will
