Fortnite has blown up quickly since it first released and it is now the most popular game. Even PewDiePie live streamed the game and got more than 300,000 viewers. This is a free-to-play game so the barrier to entry is very low and everyone can download it and give it a try whether they are playing on a console, PC or mobile. Fortnite is available on pretty much any platform that is popular in 2019.
I, for one, have never played Fortnite properly. I did download the game once and checked it out for 15 minutes or so and instantly deleted it in order to free up some space for another title that I was more interested in. Even though I have not played the game this is one of the best things that has ever happened.
I am a DOTA2 player and ever since Fortnite came out I have noticed the lack of 12-year olds in the game and the toxicity has gone down significantly. The players that are left behind are actually well behaved and supportive. You rarely see someone rage quitting or swearing at your for no reason.
Fortnite has been able to attract all the toxic players away from other games that are free and some that are paid. Overwatch is also an interesting example and while Blizzard does not really allow you to be aggressive in the chat or over voice, there are loopholes that players can abuse in order to get their way. Lately, Overwatch has been clean too and I have not found anyone raging for no particular reason.
This is my opinion and you can disagree with me. As someone that plays these kinds of games pretty much every day, this is something that I have noticed over the past year or so. Even though I have never really played Fortnite, I hope that Epic can continue to release new content and keep the players happy.
