Next Generation Nintendo Switch Controller In The Works

The Nintendo Switch has been around for a while now. Even though the handheld is very popular it is about time that Nintendo introduces new hardware. We have already heard about a premium version and a mini version coming out soon. Nintendo has confirmed that it is working on a next-generation controller for the Nintendo Switch.

Sony and Microsoft have already confirmed the PS5 and Xbox Scarlett. So, it only makes sense that Nintendo is working on new hardware as well. Shigeru Miyamoto talked about the next-generation Nintendo Switch controller and mentioned the following:

I also believe that we should quickly graduate from the current controller, and we are attempting all kinds of things. Our objective is to achieve an interface that surpasses the current controller, where what the player does is directly reflected on the screen, and the user can clearly feel the result.

From what we have heard, there will be a premium version of the Nintendo Switch that will have better graphics and more power. It could have a better battery as well. The smaller mini version will have a smaller footprint, integrated joycons and a lower price tag.

Nintendo Switch Controller

Nintendo knows about the leaks and rumors but has not confirmed the existence of these upcoming Switch models. Miyamoto went on to mention the following:

This has not been achieved yet. We have tried all kinds of motion controllers, but none seem to work for all people. As the company that knows the most about controllers, we have been striving to create a controller that can be used with ease, and that will become the standard for the next generation.

Nintendo’s Ko Shiota mentioned that it is working on new ways to play games. He mentioned that the company is constantly working on new things. Most of these projects do not see the light of day. He also pointed out that motion controls are not the future of gaming. This is very interesting indeed. I would like to see what Nintendo is working on that would be better than motion controls. I am sure that people are interested in what the company is working on behind closed doors.
