Sega have announced they will be remastering the very first Bayonetta for the PS4 and Xbox One. A PS3 and Xbox 360 game developed by Platinum Games that has since been ported to Nintendo Switch.
It’s an interesting a surprising announcement as Bayonetta 2 and 3 have both been Nintendo exclusives. The series has been published by Nintendo since Bayonetta 2 came out on the Wii U and was later ported to the Switch. Its sequel Bayonetta 3 was also a Switch exclusive.
Sega however still hold publishing rights to the original game. Bayonetta looks amazing on the Switch but we confess we’re excited to see what a PS4 or Xbox One remaster will look like. Despite there series’ Nintendo shaped home, this port to none Nintendo platforms may yet become the definitive edition.
The game is set to be released on the 18th February 2019 alongside the recently announced Vanquish remaster.
